The first half of the month has flown by, and we’re thrilled to have a packed schedule of events to take us into October!

Scenic City Clay Arts’ Ceramic Bookends Workshop is completely sold out, but stay tuned to see what’s next!

This Saturday, join local therapist and eating disorder specialist Alli Spotts-De Lazzer for A Safe Place to Talk About Body Image and Eating Disorders. This free community conversation is designed to give parents, teachers, or any caregiver a chance to talk in a safe and affirming space. Alli will dispel some common myths, then open the floor for Q&A. Saturday, September 19 at 11am. Free!

On Wednesday, September 23, we’re excited to host our very first music-only event with Spife + Slow Blink + Alison Swafford. If you’ve experienced live music at one of our hybrid events, you know the shop is a great place to relax and take in some tunes. Doors at 7, show at 7:30, $10 suggested at the door, no one turned away for lack of funds.

Then on Saturday, September 26, find us at White Duck Taco from 3pm to 8pm as the bookstore partner for Books, Brews, and Boos! We’ll have a curated selection of books and co-host a softly spooky storytime, plus a tiny treat for anyone who stops by!

We’re starting October strong with back-to-back literary events. First up is The Foark River Salon and Bait Shop reading with Barbara G. Tucker. Robert Gwaltney says the book is “filled with eccentric characters, sharp wit, and a deep affection for Appalachian life” — don’t miss it! Friday, October 2, at 6pm. Free!

And right after that on Saturday, October 3 at 6pm, Fall of Freedom is back with an open mic! All are invited to share a brief original work or a favorite piece of writing from someone else. Check out the event page for more details!
